Work with Us – CRL recruitment

We are currently recruiting to our pool of professional panel members and support clerks to provide essential support

The panel member roles are an important part of the regulatory work undertaken by CILEx Regulation. Panel members provide lay perspectives of those outside the legal profession. They reflect a balanced view from a public and consumer protection perspective.

Our duty as a legal services regulator is to set standards for our regulated community and ensure that they are upheld in order to protect the public, reputation of the profession and the Regulatory Objectives in Section 1 of the Legal Services Act 2007. Enforcement Panels play an integral role in delivering against this objective.

The role of the panels is to assess the character and suitability of applicants for CILEX membership or authorisation (prior conduct and fitness to own). It also considers allegations of professional misconduct against regulated persons and determines whether there is a case to answer. The panels also have the power to issue sanction(s) against members and whether to remove a law firm’s authorisation to carry out certain types of legal work.

We are recruiting additional panel members to replace those whose tenure/terms have expired. In addition, to ensure that we are compliant with our enforcement rules (2023), we need to have sufficient panel members to meet the quorum requirements for a meeting/hearing to be held.
