Charges
The charge against Alison Stephens of Swindon was that she engaged in conduct unbefitting to ILEX or likely to bring ILEX or its members into disrepute and conducted herself in a manner as to allow doubt to be cast upon her professional integrity contrary to the IILEX Code of Conduct.

The particulars were that:

An order was made against Mrs Stephens under s43 Solicitors Act 1974 that no solicitor shall employ or remunerate her without the consent of the Law Society.

Mrs Stephens failed to account for monies obtained from clients during the course of her employment.

Outcome
The charge was found proved.

Sanction – Indefinite exclusion
The Tribunal ordered that Mrs Stephens be excluded from membership of ILEX indefinitely.
