Details of conduct / charges

In accordance with Rule 18 of the CILEx Regulation Enforcement Rules (ER), MELISA AKTAS, a Student Member of CILEx, admitted to the following allegations of professional misconduct against her:

i. Miss Aktas failed to maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct and justify public trust in her, her profession and the provision of legal services by engaging in conduct that could undermine or affect adversely the confidence and trust placed in her and her profession by her clients, employer, professional colleagues, the public and others.
Contrary to Principle 2, Outcome 2.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct 2019

ii. Miss Aktas failed to behave with honesty and/or integrity.
Contrary to Principle 3, Outcomes 3.1 and 3.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct 2019

In that on 15 June 2023, whilst sitting the Level 3 Unit 10 Conveyancing examination online, she referred to a document in the examination, other than the Case Study Materials, which was not shown to the camera during the environmental check and which she knew or ought to have known was in breach of the examination regulations.

Outcome – DBC

CILEx Regulation accepted the admission and agreed a Determination by Consent with Melisa Aktas with the following sanction(s).

Sanction – Exclusion

Melisa Aktas was excluded from CILEx membership for an indefinite period.
