Justice Week is an annual event championed by the Law Society, the Bar Council and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx). The focus is on raising awareness amongst young people, of the importance of the justice system and the value of the rule of law in playing a fundamental role for the protection of our rights and freedoms.
A basic understanding of how the law works and the role of justice in society, politics and business is essential. People should know their rights, how they can enforce them and what measures are in place to protect them.
Justice Week 2020 (24-28 March) provided a platform to debate just this, and look at how we can ensure that this vital legal education takes place. From schools to the media, it will emphasise the work that our institutions still have to do to demystify, scrutinise and promote the world of law.
