CLE Legal Award nomination

Shortlists for the awards were chosen by a judging panel made up of representatives of the Family Law Bar Association, Resolution, the Association of Lawyers for Children, and CILEx along with Family Law editors and publishing executives.

Holland Family Law

Claire, director and founder of Holland Family Law, is a professional and accomplished family and divorce lawyer based in Leicester. Claire has built a strong reputation for being passionate about achieving the best outcome for family law and divorce cases and providing practical, easy to understand family legal advice.

Claire started her law career in 1992, working as a junior in a law firm and later on, she secured employment at the Michael Hill Partnership as a PA. After realizing her passion for working in law, she secured her first fee earning position at Lawson-West Solicitors in 1998 while working towards her CILEX qualifications.

In 2009 she qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. In 2017 she decided to set up her own firm and it was authorised for family litigation and advocacy by CILEx Regulation in the same year.

To gain authorisation, firms must demonstrate that they have the right processes and procedures in place and comply with the CILEx Code of Conduct. Claire told us; “I found the entity application process challenging initially, having to prepare a business plan and to ensure that all the correct policies and processes were in place. However, this proved to be beneficial in the longer term, creating a secure foundation for the business. As part of the firm’s authorised status, the firm receives a yearly audit as well as regular help and support from CILEx which is very much appreciated.”

On choosing to qualify via the CILEx route, she commented; “One of the main benefits of the CILEx qualification route for me was the flexibility of being able to study while working and being able to bring home an income. The CILEX route offers flexibility, which was important to me and meant I could balance my work life around the demands of having a young family at that time.”
