CPD sampling and 2024 submissions

As part of CRL’s commitment to the LSB Statement of policy on ongoing competence, we undertake a sample of member’s CPD activities each year.  For the 2022/2023 sampling exercise, over 550 CILEX members were randomly selected for sample.  The sample is now complete, and we are delighted to confirm that more than 95% of the selected members were compliant.  A full report will be published on the CRL website shortly and we would like to thank all who participated.

As part of the CRL December 2021 CPD Regulations, members are required to record their CPD activities for the current year on the myCILEX portal (via the ‘My CPD’ section) by 30 September each year.  For CPD year 2023/2024, the portal will close at midnight on 30 September 2024.

In previous years, members who had missed the deadline, and were not compliant with the CPD regulations, were invited to submit a copy of their CPD records.  CRL staff would upload the record into the portal.  However, last year, in excess of 1000 records had to manually inputted by CRL, which accounts for approximately 5% of the CILEX membership.  As recording CPD activities on the myCILEX portal is a regulatory requirement, failure to comply with the regulations may result in the refusal or delay in the issue of Practising Certificates.

Accordingly, we are considering the introduction of a fee to cover the cost of manually inputting the CPD record if a member does not do this themselves by the required deadline.  Members are therefore strongly encouraged to upload their CPD record to the portal by the 30 September 2024 deadline.  We will of course continue to make special arrangements for those members who need additional assistance.
