This in person event took place to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the legal services sector, in particular, the impact of AI and other innovative approaches in the delivery of legal services.
Case studies included Citizens Advice, who highlighted their use of emerging tools for their adviser support systems, demonstrating how innovation can help widen access to justice. The rapid advance of AI usage in the UK legal sector was also discussed, including its current governance under existing frameworks such as GDPR and copyright law.
The session highlighted the need for regulators to consider the implications for the legal sector as technology continues to evolve, including consumer protection, inclusivity, transparency and ethical deployment, including the importance of inclusive AI design.
