Practice Rights update December 2025

Over 900 Chartered Legal Executives have started the process of applying for litigation practice rights to date.

 

Portfolio Route applications

 

Over 480 Chartered Legal Executives have begun the process of applying for litigation practice rights via the portfolio route. Of these nearly 290 have now submitted their portfolio applications.

 

110 have completed the pre-screening stage and are moving through external assessment. Where additional information is required to progress an application, we have been able to notify applicants much earlier due to our process change.

 

15 Chartered Legal Executives have now been authorised as Chartered Legal Executive Litigators. These include applicants who submitted applications both pre and post-Mazur.

Assessment only route via ULaw

 

Over 440 Chartered Legal Executives have applied to ULaw’s December and January assessments.Successful applicants can expect to receive their results approximately one month after their assessment.

 

ULaw have been working to meet demand and accordingly have announced new assessment windows in February, March, May, June and July 2026. They have also introduced a Criminal assessment only course for the first time which is available to book from February 2026.
