Member personal data submissions – help us advocate for change
From October 2022, different grades of members will be invited to renew their CILEX membership and as part of this process, members will be asked to complete ‘My personal data submission’.
The diversity information collected from member responses will be analysed, helping CILEx Regulation to evidence the barriers to entry and progression in the profession that still exist and ultimately, inform our decision making.
Encouraging a strong, diverse and effective legal profession is a key priority. We are firmly committed to this through our EDI strategy, promoting fair and inclusive access for all those who work within the legal services market, as well as those who use legal services.
Personal Data Submission – new questions
This year’s submission includes new questions relating to social mobility, plus slight changes to previous questions. These updates have been made in line with government equality standards and as a result of our work with other legal professions. Making data statistically comparable, further supports our work to resolve barriers to progression.
The importance of a full response
The submission questions include a `prefer not to say’ option, however, members are requested to provide a full response*. This is essential in helping us develop a clear and detailed understanding of our regulated community, enabling us to provide more targeted and effective regulation.
Members are encouraged to:
• Respond in full to all questions including the new questions.
• Check that responses already provided are up-to-date.
• Consider providing full data to replace any earlier `prefer not to say’ responses.
* All responses are confidential and in line with the privacy of personal data guidelines outlined in the CILEX and CRL privacy notices.
