Board update – May 2025

Our third full Board meeting of the year included a strategy session where we considered future challenges and how best we can promote the interests of consumers and those we regulate.

Highlights included discussions around our continued EDI commitment to fair and equal access for all those working in the legal services sector, as well as those who use legal services.

We also debated Professional Ethics in relation to our response to the LSB’s proposed Statement of Policy which is currently out for consultation. Consumers and consumer empowerment is one of our key strategic objectives. We discussed what actions could be taken to further engage consumers and help the most vulnerable.

We reviewed our current finance, budget and resourcing strategy for 2026, including the Practising Certificate Fee which we will be consulting on in the summer. We also agreed an action plan in response to the LSB’s recent Regulatory Performance Assessment. This will include discussions with our regulated entities on the future of the Compensation Fund, a new Stakeholder Survey and further engagement with consumers to inform our policy work.
