Details of conduct / charges
In accordance with Rule 18 of the CILEx Regulation Enforcement Rules (ER), CHARLOTTE TREVES, a Fellow of CILEx, admitted to the following allegations of professional misconduct against her:
Allegation 1:
1a. That Miss Treves failed to maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct and justify public trust in her, her profession, and the provision of legal services by engaging in conduct which could undermine or affect adversely the confidence and trust placed in her and her profession by her client, her employer, professional colleagues, the public and others.
Contrary to Principle 2, Outcome 2.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct 2019
1b. That Miss Treves failed to behave with honesty and integrity by not being honest in all her dealings and in all financial matters and to not intentionally mislead anyone she deals with.
Contrary to Principle 3, Outcome 3.1 and 3.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct 2019
The circumstances of the allegations are that between November 2023 and January 2024, Miss Treves misled her clients as to the as to the correct position of their files.
Allegation 2:
2a. That Miss Treves failed to maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct and justify public trust in her, her profession, and the provision of legal services by engaging in conduct which could undermine or affect adversely the confidence and trust placed in her and her profession by her client, her employer, professional colleagues, the public and others.

2b. That Miss Treves failed to behave with honesty and integrity by not being honest in all her dealings and in all financial matters and to not intentionally mislead anyone she deals with.
Contrary to Principle 3, Outcome 3.1 and 3.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct 2019
The circumstances of the allegations are that between November 2023 and January 2024, Miss Treves mislead clients and other parties by indicating that correspondence had been sent, when it had not, and altered case record(s) and outlook to evidence that she had sent correspondence to parties when she had not.
Allegation 3:
3a. That Miss Treves failed to maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct and justify public trust in her, her profession, and the provision of legal services by engaging in conduct which could undermine or affect adversely the confidence and trust placed in her and her profession by her client, her employer, professional colleagues, the public and others.

3b. That Miss Treves failed to behave with honesty and integrity by not being honest in all her dealings and in all financial matters and to not intentionally mislead anyone she deals with.
Contrary to Principle 3, Outcome 3.1 and 3.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct 2019
The circumstances of the allegations are that between November 2023 and January 2024, Miss Treves falsely recorded units of time on matters when she knew she had not undertaken the said work and then created the associated document at a later date.
Outcome – DBC
CILEx Regulation accepted the admission and agreed a Determination by Consent with Charlotte Treves with the following sanction(s).
Sanction – Exclusion
Charlotte Treves was excluded from CILEx membership for an indefinite period.
