The results for CRL’s first live practice rights assessments delivered through The University of Law were published on the 1 March 2023. There were 23 candidates receiving their results, with an overall pass rate of 96%.
These assessments, in either civil litigation or conveyancing, were delivered in December 2022 and are made up of both knowledge and skills components. Those who have been successful will now be able to progress to the next stage of authorisation.
Following on from the success of the pilot assessments completed last year, The University of Law continues to be impressed by the high standard of candidates, reflected in an exceptionally high pass rate, with many candidates achieving 80% or higher.

The University of Law is the nominated training and assessment provider for CILEx Regulation’s alternative route to practice rights. The University has a long history of offering high quality training and assessment services for the legal sector, offering students valuable support and guidance prior to assessment.
Participants completed a student survey following the assessments and 100% said they would recommend the route to others and 85% said they enjoyed the process. All agreed that the assessment process was well organized, with good levels of advice and support available prior to the assessment.
All Chartered Legal Executives with at least 5 years’ qualifying employment experience have the option to choose this new route to obtain additional practice rights.
