Charges

Mr Mohammed admitted the following allegations of misconduct:-

i. Contrary to Principle 2, Outcome 2.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct

That he failed to maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct and justify public trust in him, his profession and the provision of legal services by engaging in conduct that could undermine or affect adversely the confidence and trust placed in him and his profession by his clients, his employer, professional colleagues, the public and others.

ii. Contrary to Principle 3, Outcomes 3.1 and 3.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct

That he failed to behave with honesty and/or integrity.

iii. Contrary to Principle 4, Outcomes 4.1 4.2 of the CILEX Code of Conduct

That he has failed to comply with his legal and regulatory obligations by failing to understand and comply with the regulation applicable to him and take all practicable steps to ensure he can demonstrate that he has adhered to the core Principles and met the associated Outcomes.

In that between 13 and 22 June 2022 he sat CILEX level 3 exams in: Contract Law; Criminal Law; Land Law and Conveyancing during which he used Word and/or Google applications and copied the content into his answers. He knew or ought to have known such actions were not permitted.

Outcome

Mr Mohammed admitted the allegations and, in accordance with Rule 18(1) CILEx Regulation Enforcement Rules, agreed to determine the allegation by consent and the imposition of exclusion from CILEX for a period of 12 months

Sanction – Exclusion

Mr Mohammed was excluded from CILEx membership for 12 months.
