Charges

Sandy Gilfillan, a CILEx Fellow, admitted the following allegation of professional misconduct:

That he failed to maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct and justify public trust in him, his profession, and the provision of legal services by engaging in conduct that could undermine or affect adversely the confidence and trust placed in him and his profession by his client, professional colleagues, the public and others.

In that on the 26th February 2022, he sent inappropriate emails to an individual (non-client) in which he threatened that if she did not stop sending messages to him, he would reveal sensitive personal information about her to her family members.

Contrary to Principle 2, Outcome 2.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct

Outcome

CILEx Regulation accepted the admission and agreed a Determination by Consent with Sandy Gilfillan with the following sanction(s).

Sanction

Warning and Reprimand: Mr Gilfillan was reprimanded for his breaches of the CILEx Code of Conduct and warned as to his future conduct.
